COVID-19 Announcement
ACPSA is committed to keeping our community informed around the current public health concerns associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19). The health risk from COVID-19 to the general public is a quickly evolving situation. While the current risk to Albertans posed by COVID-19 remains low, we can all play a role in protecting our families and our communities.
The circumstances around COVID-19 are rapidly evolving, and we are actively monitoring the situation. We will use the guidance of Alberta Health to keep us informed and help us make decisions. We will update you with any changes to our regular programming.
Programs Status: Current winter sessions in Edmonton and Calgary will continue as planned.
We serve a population of which many are immunocompromised, and as such, need to practice the highest diligence in the below recommendations. To safeguard our athletes, assistant, coaches, volunteers and staff, we require the following:
1. Players and assistants must not attend practice if they are ill with flu-like symptoms. Contact HealthLink by dialing 811 if you have symptoms.
2. If you have recently traveled internationally and are not feeling well, you are not allowed to participate in our programs for 14 days (beginning the day after you arrive home from your international destination).
3. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water not available. All facilities we use have washrooms on site.
4. Do not share food or drinks.
If you’re not comfortable attending our remaining winter sessions, please do not feel pressured to come. Your health is our number one priority. Please let a coordinator know if this is the case.
As an organization we are working to increase safe hygiene and cleaning practices:
1. We are working on supplying all coaches with hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. We will be requesting the coaches and volunteers use disinfectant wipes to wipe all equipment handled by them or other people.
2. Working with our employees, both in office and in the field, to practice good hygiene and to stay home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
We are monitoring the worldwide and Alberta-specific Covid-19 situation and will make updates based on the recommendations of Alberta Health.
STAY INFORMED:
Stay up to date on the rapidly evolving situation. Frequently check provincial, national and international websites.
Alberta Health Services is the lead agency for any health operations and public communications, however The City has an important stake in managing during a localized outbreak. Specifically, the health, safety and well-being of employees and the public is The City’s top priority and its focus is maintaining the essential services that Calgarians rely upon.
