Coaches Week 2016

Dwayne Myrmo is our #CoachesWeek gift basket winner! Dwayne has been our lead coach with Edmonton’s Para Soccer program, and head coach for the Edmonton Assassins Power Soccer team since the beginnings of both programs. Players describe Dwayne as someone who is genuine, dedicated, and enthusiastic.

Dwayne comes to every practice with a great positive energy, and looks for ways to help challenge our participants to grow and develop, in multiple capacities. Dwayne has always been able to build great rapport with participants, and makes everyone who joins our programs feel welcome and part of the family right away. He never hesitates to lend a hand to help, has been a great mentor for players, volunteers and other coaches, and has always been open and keen to continue learning and developing his own knowledge.

Dwayne has been involved with soccer most of his life, both as a player and as a coach. He has coached community soccer groups, as well as premier league and U18 boys. Dwayne has also been involved in local soccer clubs as the Vice President of Millwoods Soccer Association in previous years, has been a part of planning committees and is the community league soccer rep for the Leefield Community League.

When Dwayne first heard about the Soccability Para Soccer program and that they were looking for coaches, he jumped right in! One of the reasons he felt compelled to get involved was that he believed everyone should have the same opportunities to learn and play soccer, much the same way he did as a kid. When we began developing the power soccer program in Edmonton, Dwayne didn’t hesitate to get involved.

When he isn’t coaching soccer, Dwayne works as a renovations contractor and in his free time he likes to go fishing, camping and loves to water ski! He’s also an avid sports fan and enjoys watching the Oilers, and has been a season ticket holder for the Edmonton Eskimos for 20 years.

We can’t say #ThanksCoach enough to all of our ACPSA coaches and supporters, without you all we couldn’t offer the programs we do!
